Generally I agree with you, in the sense that mere difference from the original text doesn't necessarily bother me. I find it pleasurable to watch a good, creative adaptation and am very aware that cinema works differently to literature, and changes are necessary: conversely, a poor adaptation which, to my mind, constitutes an actual misreading or insensitive reading of the original, tends to bug me somewhat. It's the academic in me, sorry! I can't help making analytical comparisons.
Your approach probably means you are annoyed by fewer movies than I am, but conversely, you deny yourself the subtle pleasures of adaptation ;>.
