Careful with circular needles and small circumference (i.e. hat). It can totally be done but you will find yourself with more needle than stitches, and if you're not psychologically prepared, there will be swearing. The way to be psychologically prepared is to read up on the "magic loop" technique, which really doesn't deserve to be dignified with the word "technique", but it is sort of comforting to know that you're *supposed* to do that.

(I shall be descending on Cape Town for a week at the end of August. I think we should perchance arrange a Knitting Party. If only because it's something I would never have expected to see you doing. Also, your dad's mohair arrived last week. Mmmmm fluffy.)
