I have also tried the giant unbrella solution, by dint of building an enormous, shade-cloth-covered cat run in the back garden. This proved totally escape-proof for the black-nosed cat, who was only in there to keep the pink-nosed, white-furred cat company. However, that little white bugger managed to squeeze out through holes we couldn't even fit the childrens hands through!
