Ruthless Rhymes for Stupid Students, VII

A tragic trend in modern youth
resides in this disgusting truth:
their writing skills are somewhat vile,
devoid of substance, form or style.

But worthier still of deep repentance
their offenses to the sentence!
With blind indifference quite superb
They brutally excise the verb.

Faced with grammar thusly maimed
- mutilated, bleeding, lamed -
I swear I will, by all the gods,
chastise the perpetrating sods
with metaphor that's rather neat
by sawing off their hands and feet.

What tells you I was marking essays all yesterday? Actually, this lot on vampires weren't half bad. Someone wrote an amazing, insightful, focused, intelligent response to From Dusk Till Dawn, which I would have thought was a feat completely outside the bounds of human capacity.

Somebody managed to intellectualise that film? Wow.

I know, I was stunned. "Insightful", "focused" and "intelligent" are all distinguished by being words one could never apply to Quentin Tarantino.

And "amazing" only in the sense of "amazingly pretentious".

Actually the movie was directed by Robert Rodriguez, who generally rocks. Tarantino co-wrote the screenplay.

Gawsh, that tells you something about urban legend... I was firmly convinced, because Someone Told Me So, that the film was co-directed; first half by Rodriguez, second half by Tarantino, neatly explaining its bad case of multiple personality disorder. But you're right, IMDB credits only Rodriguez (whose films I generally enjoy big time, up to and including Spy Kids); apparently Tarantino planned to direct but decided not to at the last minute. I stand corrected. Or, rather, after yesterday's invigilation, sit corrected, moving only slowly and with care owing to the aches and pains.

separated at birth??

Nathan Fillion - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0277213/
and
Jason Bateman - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000867/

Separated at birth? You decide...

Nah, I don't see it. Jason Bateman simply fails to thrill.
