baby can drown, baby can touch her toes

Things That Have Gone Wrong Today:

  1. Haven't had time to drink tea since I arrived at 7.15 - first cup now, by dint of locking self in office and ignoring the frequent knocking. Feeling a bit psychotic.
  2. Put up all the posters this morning with the wrong dates on them, had to be corrected in koki by a passing secretary. Feeling idiotic.
  3. Tried to move heavy metal noticeboard with help of students, misjudged, stubbed right big toe violently on it, lifting nail and causing (a) the Screaming Agony Death Type 3, and (b) lots of blood, which has been squishing merrily in my shoe all morning. Feeling silly, and sore.
  4. Two important course convenors absent today, have had to pick up their advice role, which entails puzzling my way through a completely unfamiliar programme for a few dozen extra students. Feeling resentful.
On the upside, several days of jo&stv looking squiffy-eyed at me because I keep forgetting to eat, have clearly sunk in. Made lunch! Ate lunch! may be slightly more human after that and this cup of tea.

I do not like this job, it is scraaaatched.

I would have 2 cups. I hope your toe feels better soon.

My toe throbs, I seem to have bruised it quite spectacularly, and the nail is still seeping gently. I feel silly. But it is improving, thanks!

How's the chaos and pandemonium of the new house/life etc? is Durban having the same hideous heatwaves we've had recently?

I think the heatwave is country-wide. Today has dropped to a balmy 28degrees, but tomorrow will be another stinker (36+). Chaos and pandemonium will persist for months, methinks.

Nimnod in Grahamstown has been blogging about the desperate heat; we were OK after the thunderstorm night before last, but it's heating up again today. Sigh. Durban must be like scalding soup at the moment, as opposed to its usual lukewarm soup effect.
