quantum hangthrough

I had a reasonable amount of sleep last night, so I'm not sure why Tuesday night's four-hour so-called "rest" should have chosen to catch up with me today - I was fine yesterday, if slightly manic, but am a total zombie today. Not quite hangunder, more a sort of delayed hangthrough. On the very firmly upside, today was the last first-period tut for which I'll have to flog myself out of bed until July next year. *does happy shuffling zombie dance around room on tip-tips of toes*.

I spent the first part of the afternoon curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea, a bar of chocolate, three remotes, and the DVD of Willow, all of which came under the heading of "Work", since that's the encyclopedia entry I've just finished. Good lord, but I'd forgotten how cheesy that film is. Fun, but cheesy, and actually less dated special-effects-wise than I expected it to be. Interesting, though - it very definitely foreshadows, in stylistic terms, Lord of the Rings, and not just because all the epic scenic bits were shot in New Zealand - I think it's something to do with the very real feel of the film, despite mucho special effects. I am also exhausted enough that Val Kilmer was somehow horribly attractive, which of course may just be (a) the swordfighting, or (b) the hair. However, memo to self for future reference: do not make important romantic decisions when operating on less than 8 hours of sleep.

This month's batch of encyclopedia entries are done, finished, sent, and I'm starting to eye the next batch sidelong, with definite interest. (Neil Gaiman! Diana Wynne Jones! Let me at them!) The fact that the Nice Editor Man hasn't acknowledged the first lot I sent yesterday worries me slightly. I hope the .303 bookworms haven't got him.

Rubble update: suspiciously quiet. The Army of Reconstruction have abandoned their nicely-smoothed garage floor and are doing something mysterious and noisy around the corner with bricks. I'm scared to look.

Today's installment of Things You Might Not Have Known About Me, #7: live brass band music makes me cry.
