The bloody technojinx is back. This morning the Iburst signal was sitting calmly and professionally at 70, but my computer, possibly cowed and confused by this sudden rush of information, refused categorically to connect to the internet until I'd rebooted it twice. (The computer, not the internet, although it occurs to me that rebooting the internet occasionally might cut out a lot of the random, disconnected guff). Amount of untorn hair still on my head: even less. Also, good swearing practice. The cats are still in hiding. And when I did manage to connect, it was only to discover I'd misplaced an apostrophe in my last post. *commits ritual suicide*
I had long, involved and rather distressing dreams last night in which I was taking
wolverine_nun's daughter, grown up to age 4 or thereabouts, on a long train trip across the country (not this country, a random, dark, empty country) by train, or sometimes bus. This process was rendered difficult by the fact that the names of the stations we passed bore absolutely no resemblance to my map, or to the station where I was supposed to meet the child's mother. Much wandering about Cthulhoid small-town seafront sidewalks, trying to find food for the child when all the shops were closed. Rather bleak dream, actually, and filled with a sense of confusion and urgency, since the child's mother was obviously worrying. Well-behaved child, though. Sorry, w-n, you'll get her back eventually. Maybe tonight.
Bother. I've just spent ten minutes wandering around the kitchen making myself a cup of tea, and having a conversation with my piece of toast. I think I need to get out more, this eccentric academic thing is creeping up on me.
