acquisitions
Tuesday, 3 April 2007 08:28 pmWent shopping for clothes this afternoon with my sister and Cute Niece. My designated role was basically Niece-Wrangler, i.e. forcibly restraining her from eating cigarette butts, putting her grimy hands on the merchandise or hitting up random passers-by for samples of their ice-cream while my sister shopped. Despite this I also joyously acquired four items on my own behalf, three of which were from the men's section of the store (shirts, big woolly zip-up jersey). I can't work out if this means that (a) women's current fashions are deeply silly and should not be worn by right-thinking people, or (b) I'm not actually a girl. Possibly a bit of both. Also, two of said items were purple. Red hat, railings, stick, Granny Weatherwax... sigh.
Frivolous shopping trips notwithstanding, I managed to dedicate my morning to (surprise!) actual work. It's very strange to contemplate quite how profoundly this revolutionary Internet thingy has changed my professional life, measurably, in a very short space of time. ( Meditations follow. )
Given Teh Intarwebz and its assault upon the traditional non-productivity bastions of academia, I now have absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the continued smug china existence of the bunny on my desk, not that I can see him that well right now as he's partially obscured by a pile of PDF printouts. His time becomes increasingly short. Anvils, I say meaningfully. Anvils.
Forgot to mention it in the last post, but today B5 is at T-9. And won't someone please tell me if the new Who season opened well, and how the Doctor's replacement companion is doing? She looks a bit smug in the photos, and I'm rather afraid that in my fangirly capacity I'm going to have to hate her.
