Things Not To Do In Celebration Of Book Completion
Wednesday, 20 June 2007 07:15 pmAccidentally upend a full, hot cup of Earl Grey over the Evil Landlord's keyboard while attempting inspirational sippage during a contemplative Morrowind moment.
Things Definitely To Do, on the other hand, include being taken out to celebratory dinner by jo&stv, the Friendly Psychologist and her Internet Romance. Venue: Jewel Tavern, which is this incredibly dive-looking small upstairs restaurant at the unfashionable, if not downright dodgy, end of the docks. Plastic chairs and chopsticks, giant 70s lazy susan in the middle of the table, ambiance somewhere between Fiendish Chinese Diner and cut-price opium den. The food, however, is incredibly good: complex flavours in interesting combinations, with a huge selection. I fell heavily for the lemon chicken, three-cup chicken, sizzling kingklip and amazing chili beef thing.
Everyone has been very kind about this book completion - dinners, phone calls, visits, random presents. This leads me to think that, not only do I have amazing friends, but the book update process must have been an untold pain in the butt for anyone in my immediate vicinity over the last couple of years, what with all the angst, guilt and self-loathing. Thank you for your patience.
