Wheee! My nice manager has just given me a totally free day off in recognition of the rigours of this week. We like her. She understands. Friday next week is mine, mine, mine, and never leaving! I may also get to see something of my mother, which would be nice. Currently she only mostly experiences a blur of passing daughter in a haze of curriculum advice fallout and random computer parts.

In recognition of yet another day of insane curriculum advice for frequently insane students, I retreat into random linkery. Because it's easy.

• Language Log reports on upcoming research at the "Stanford Superconducting Supersocializer, which will ... propel local college sophomores at tremendous speeds into unfamiliar groups of people in an effort to plumb the structure of the elementary particles of social interaction". Includes amusing diagrams featuring elemental particles such as quirks, hangerons and caffeine.


• It's kinda redundant to post XKCD nods, because who doesn't read XKCD? But today's made me laugh. Particularly, for some reason, Hurricane Cos^(x). You'd think I was a geek or something.

Tonight sees the resumption of jo's game, now rescued from a holding pattern over Jehr airport. I hope I am not so completely undead as to be unable to appropriately respond to the usual random excesses of my fellow characters, while adequately perpetuating my own.
