puttin' on my top hat

Thought for the day: my mother is probably the most perfect person in the multiverse with whom to watch Fred Astaire movies. She shares my unrepentant adoration of the dance moves, but she's always happy to emerge from the fangirly fog in order to deconstruct dress constructions at the drop of a hat.

That's all, really. Except that she babysat my niece all day yesterday while I dealt with student curriculum changes, and it's a toss-up as to which of us was more exhausted. Hence the Fred Astaire.

Oh, yes. And one of the students I saw yesterday apparently has swine 'flu. Shall be both miffed and amused if Hellweek follows to its full logical conclusion the implications of its name, and infects me too.
