Date: Monday, 9 November 2020 06:25 pm (UTC)i also feel like the ridiculousness of the final meltdown (I am personally obsessed with Four Seasons Total Landscaping; I work for a Philly-owned company so I have a lot of daily phone interactions with Philadelphians and I can tell you they think telling you to fuck off is polite, the entire notion that the MAGA idiots were ever going to start shit in Philly is ridiculous on its entire face-- you know Gritty has been fined for assault, right?? in the course of his on-ice duties? he definitely punched more than one child) is so important, because a great deal of the orange menace's power came from his followers feeling powerful at the notion of being able to break rules with impunity and bully people,and now that he's a lame duck and a laughingstock no media outlets are going to give him any sympathetic treatment, and it's got to be sort of hard to get that frisson of powerfulness when you yell "Trump!" and instead of flinching your target laughs.
He can still do a bunch of damage and likely will, and now we've elected the most ineffectual dork ever, but listen I will take an ineffectual dork who wants things to work the way they always have over... what all that bullshit was, so. let's hope.
I do, in fact, feel like what you've described, and it took me a lot of words to circle back around to that, LOL.
