Being unable to stand the suspense any longer, I eventually simply mailed Ster-Kinekor. I have to say, I'm impressed - my query was answered within an hour. Serenity premieres in South Africa on the 18th November. As I thought, they're delaying it for the Christmas holidays, bastards. So we have to wait a month and a half. On the upside, we get it earlier than Malaysia and Peru.

A bizarre side-effect of the SCA event this weekend was that someone gave me the first 2 seasons of Galactica on CD. This is now becoming ridiculous. I will persuade the wretched computer to play these things, or perish in the attempt! *girds loins*

First *two* seasons? The second one hasn't even completely aired on the more expensive Uk channels yet. You old-timey people in the boondocks are ahead of the curve there. I haven't donwloaded all of galactica season two because er... i've got a pile of space muppets season two to watch, not to mention the rest of the Black books, Invader zim etc that I have waiting.

Oh, and if you can spare the many hours that it takes, the Galactica feature-length intro minseries is worth watching before the Season 1 episodes - it sets the scene as it were.

Yes, I had planned to do that. It's quite possible that the Big Box o'Disks is, in fact, only Season One; I was somewhat harried this weekend, and info tended to go in one ear and out the other. But I am now Sorted, TM, with the intro mini-series and at least one season, so all I need to do is (a) beat the thrice-damned computer into actually showing them, (b) miraculously achieve several extra hours in the day in which to do so, while (c) keeping at bay the inevitable guilt. It's never simple...

Just been reading the lively "debates" on imdb about Serenity. Interesting.

More Johnny Depp (not to mention Tim Burton)

Speaking of cool movies, Corpse Bride opens here in the US (nationwide that is) soon - will have to abandon family to go see!

Thak.

The poster for Serenity has appeared in the tube stations... involving River, but not as we know her... very, very cool... can't wait...

I think River has a much larger role in the movie, the plot pretty much revolves around her. Which is cool, I've always liked her as a character, and the actress is very good. What is it with Joss Whedon and the need to represent kick-butt women? I approve.

Yes, even I have entered the so-called "21st century". Hmm, my hon's students are writing up their projects then so no seminars must see if I can take leave. (and whether I have the money to come down, excess from my car crash is biting deep).
