Ruthless Rhymes for Stupid Students, VIII

[freckles_and_doubt]

The discipline of English lit
is open to the meanest wit:
hardly rocket science, its creed
demands you simply learn to read.
Yet there they sit! my brightest class!
Mute, because they can't be arsed
to read the nifty books I set.
I push the button marked "Eject"
to launch them skywards through the roof,
and register my sharp reproof.
Heaped on the lawn, all bruised and bleeding,
bet they wish they'd done the reading.

Still no epiglotti. I'm too annoyed to think of rhymes.

(Edited after the fact to a slightly snappier version. The Eject button was in one of my earlier scribbled bits of paper, and I subsequently forgot about it.)

why, thank you ;>. Although, given the irritation levels, this wasn't nearly bloody enough. My approximately bi-annual "throw the unprepared students out the class" hissy fit leaves me spitting bricks. Bruising and a few splinters, pshaw.

Spenser's Faerie Queen, which means they had the faint shadow of a glimmer of an excuse, it's dense, self-consciously inaccessible stuff. On the other hand, kick-butt lady knights in drag! theme of lust! evil enchanters! Merlin! honestly...

Apparently - the Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike ones have been returned already. I suppose I'll find out next week when I mark the essays. Sigh.

I'm not really all over the lolcat phenomenon, although it's possibly all over me, or at least all over the place. I really like the XKCD version (http://xkcd.com/c262.html). The cheezburger site is actually new to me, thanks! although I rather prefer all the more meta and ironic takes on it. John Scalzi (http://www.scalzi.com/whatever/005116.htm)'s doing some fun Amish things with it...
