Thought for the day: the student sitting in my office waiting for me to finish a phone call would receive a far more favourable response to his actually completely inappropriate and misdirected query if (a) he had taken a bath any time in the last week, and (b) he wasn't chewing gum continuously with his mouth open.

Also, if the phone doesn't stop ringing, I may have to acquire a shotgun.

An unrelated question - can edible ostrich eggs be got anywhere in Cape Town? I can get them near work for £15. it would be odd if they're easier to procure in London than in CT.

Yes, you can get them at some delis and farm stalls but they are huge & so only useful if you are making breakfast for a really large group. I ate some scrambled at Oudtshoorn when I did the cycle tour. :)

1 Ostrich egg is equivalent to 24 large hen eggs, apparently. The flavour is supposed to be light, and similar to hen.
